Editor - Upload XML

In Brief: Only used in conjunction with the Save Job To XML operation. This file upload slot lets you select a previously saved Job XML file to load back into your editor. This is useful in situations where you have created archived files of your jobs, are installing to a new server, or are trading jobs with colleagues.

Note that the job is not actually saved to your Database or flat file system unless you click the Export Job or Preview Page buttons. That means you can safely load jobs at will without having to worry about over-writing a version currently stored in your database or in the flat file /output/forms/ directory.

Dependencies: A saved xml job file.

Hints & Tricks: RackForms will perform internal checks for data integrity. One of the most common notices you will receive from this operation will be when a job that used the Simple SQL module is found. If this is the case, the internal RackForms database job_id attribute of the loaded job may conflict with an existing job_id. In this event, RackForms will guide you through the steps needed to either overwrite the existing id, or create a new one.

Loading Jobs In Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer uses a security model called Trusted Sites which affects the RackForms job uploading behavior.

Although RackForms should automatically step you through this process via a dialog box, if you have trouble loading job xml files please:

1. Click on Tools > Internet Options

2. Click on the Security Tab

3. Click the Trusted Sites 'check mark icon'

4. Just underneath the icons click the Trusted Sites button.

5. Note the current web address RackForms is using, and enter it into the text box under Add this web site to the zone.

Doing this will, as the process suggests, add your site to the Internet Explorer safe sites list. This is needed because RackForms actually uses AJAX file uploads to load your job data, something that by default is not allowed for normal sites.
